Troubleshooting¶
“Outdated client” or “Outdated server”¶
Your game version and the server version do not match. Check the latest Storm SMP announcement and select a supported version in the launcher. Avoid unofficial client downloads.
“Unknown host”¶
- Check the spelling of
play.thestormsmp.com. - Remove accidental spaces from the address.
- Check your internet connection and retry.
- If other websites work but this address does not, check official server status announcements.
“Connection timed out” or “Connection refused”¶
The server may be restarting, under maintenance, offline, or unreachable from your network. Wait briefly, check announcements, and try again. If it continues, send support the exact error and approximate time.
“Failed to verify username”¶
- Check that the official Minecraft launcher is signed into the correct account.
- Check whether Minecraft authentication services are experiencing an outage.
- Restart the official launcher and retry.
- Never share your Microsoft password or session token with anyone offering to “fix” authentication.
Lag or low FPS¶
- Lower render distance and graphics settings.
- Close unnecessary applications.
- Check whether the issue affects only one world or every server.
- Report persistent server-wide lag with the approximate time and what was happening.
A command does not work¶
The command may be disabled, misspelled, or restricted by permissions. Check /help and the command reference. Ask staff before assuming a plugin or rank is broken.
